about David JP HookerDavid is a transplanted Southerner now living in the greater Chicago area. He has been an artist for longer than he cares to admit. He received an MFA in ceramics from Kent State University. David’s artwork explores his interests in places, spaces, memory, objects and history. He explores these interests through ritualistic action, looking for ways in which ritual can have a positive influence in our understanding of our environments and ourselves. David's work has been widely exhibited. It can be found in the permanent collections of the South Carolina State Museum, The Greenville Museum of Art, First Charter’s Corporate Headquarters in Charlotte, North Carolina, and the Woodruff Branch of the Spartanburg County Library in South Carolina. Recent exhibitions include shows in Chicago, Los Angeles and Seattle as well as Kecskemét, Hungary. He was also a recent showcase winner at Artslant.com. When David is not freaking out over deadlines, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Elaine, his children Abbey and Samuel, and his dog, Mac. He also enjoys baseball, basketball, BBQ, and tennis—not necessarily in that order.
